The conductivity tester allows you to check that surfaces are conductive prior to plating. Simply touch the test probes on the work to be plated and if the needle does not move, the surface is non-conductive. This instrument is especially useful to checking if the item has been coated with clear lacquer a common process used with gold plated bathroom taps and brass items to stop them tarnishing.
