Alkaline
Copper Plating Solution is primarily used as a base plate for plating onto
pewter, britannia metal or lead and its alloys. It can also be used for
plating and initial coat of copper prior to silver plating when renovating
EPNS. It plates a beautiful dark layer of copper which resembles an antique
copper patina.
This Edwardian flask, made of britannia metal, and goblet (with a tin-lead stem) was first undercoated using alkaline copper then silver plated. The flask was in particularly poor condition but came up beautifully after plating.
